Sabbath isn't a burden or a rulebook—it's an invitation to stop striving and enjoy the life God built for you.
We believe discipleship happens when parents model what life with Jesus Christ looks like for their kids. It starts with making time to BE WITH Jesus. Some churches call this "walking with Jesus." How can we become like someone if we never spend time with Him? The apostle James said it best when he wrote, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." And how can we do what Jesus asked us to do if we really don't know His desires for us as members of His family? Jesus modeled how we are to life in harmony with the Father - through spiritual practices that are highly relational. If you are a Christian in these chaotic times, your first step toward life in God's family will be to set aside a weekly time to be with Jesus. We see the Sabbath as the perfect time to be with Jesus. And since Jesus practiced the Sabbath, it is one of the spiritual formation practices that we can do to become like Him. Here is the connection: we become like Jesus when we do the spiritual practices that He modeled for us! Sabbath is our rest stop on the super highway of life in the 2020s.
Why not make this unhurried time with God a time of quality connection with Him and our families around messy dinner tables, old-time board games, family prayers, quiet reflection on His words, and intentional rest?
Our free Sabbath Planning Guide will be available soon so you can begin cultivating rhythms of grace and peace in your home soon.
