Practical Tools for Home Discipleship

Weekly Family Activities
The beauty of a Jesus-First Family comes with the leading of the Holy Spirit. Every person in the family is in a little different place in their spiritual journey. While we provide the parents with recommendations for their weekly Sabbath, the parents must engage their children with stories, songs, prayers, and other activities appropriate for their children based on their understanding of life with God.
The parents model the lifestyle through their setting aside time for Sabbath, prayer, scripture reading, solitude, rest, and fasting. We strongly recommend a technology fast during times of Sabbath. Some of the best discipling happens through living it out instead of teaching it.
Table Time
Have you ever noticed the transformational effects of time with family around a table? Without the distractions of electronic devices like cell phones, conversations can become special times for connection.
Some of us might need a little coaching here because we grew up with cell phones and tablets. We provide parents with simple questions designed to foster meaningful conversations with their families.
And meals are always an opportunity to thank God for His love for us and the way He provides for us.
Have you ever noticed how much time Jesus spent with people around tables?
Structured Sabbath Guides
Clear, restful frameworks for intentional weekly rhythms. Our guides help you plan several hours of rest, reflection, and reconnection without the burden of legalism.
We believe a little progress is better than a massive change in weekly rhythms. Starting with 2-4 hours on a Saturday evening to Sabbath is a good way to start. Some families begin Sabbath with the Saturday evening meal. When the television, the tablets, the cell phones, and other screens are down, something special happens.
God often speaks in the quiet moments.
